Don't look away just yet. Consumer travel blog Travel Rants has produced a list - yep, another one - of "Web 2.0" travel sites.
Some interesting sites, if a little confusing (Bezurk, for example, is not included in the same category as Kayak). We have included Sidestep to go alongside Kayak; WAYN is now in the social network category.

It is good to see consumer bloggers are picking out some of the innovative sites which apparently adhere to the principles of Web 2.0.
However, here is a sobering thought from Antony Mayfield, in a post The Downside of Web 2.0 is the Name.
"Web 2.0 will one day seem as dated as a micro-scooter and Foosball," Mayfield writes.
Maybe it's just us, but Web 2.0 suddenly seems a bit uncool. Perhaps we need O'Reilly to come up with something else.

A bloggers error on Bezurk ;) Now fixed. I'm going to add more sites on the list tomorrow.I know all you travel professionals think it's snore time, but most consumers probably don't know about any of these sites, and well I thought they were helpful [most of them]One I did like was http://www.tvtrip.com/ hotel video reviews before you book.
Darren: I was saying "don't yawn". :-)I would argue most consumers do not care/know about web 2.0 anyway.it's all about user experience. if they can get a decent holiday or advice they will be happy.

Interesting list, but like most web 2.0 lists already outdated at time of publishing as they seem to grow like mushrooms.....!As for the 2.0 terminology, go here http://tinyurl.com/24fn9l for another take on it.
Joe: Thanks. I agree with you about the out-of-date aspect of Web 2.0 sites.I will post something tomorrow with our current favourite Web 2.0 (gggrrrr) site - for a few days at least.
May I suggest one more in the flight category. www.dohop.com is searches more than 660 airlines, including low cost ones. Search results can include up to 3 legs per route.
Anonymous: What is particularly Web 2.0 about Dohop.com?I was speaking with a fellow blogger about this last night: lists about Web 2.0 sites can be tricky simply because the boundaries are so fluid.
You could also add Trivop.com for hotel videos with a mashup with Google Maps and TripAdvisor...

Hi. Nice list! I'd also like to suggest the following sites for the "blogs" category:trogger.de - German travel community; and trogger.info - the English version of the trogger portal.
